Auto Electrician Electric Vehicle Sunshine Coast Mechanic

electric auto Electric Vehicles Sunshine Coast

Electric vehicles are the future on the Sunshine Coast, so auto electricians will be high demand. With electric buses being rolled out this year, a diesel mechanic may be looking for new work. They say that by 2030, diesel buses are going to be phased out. This means that a diesel mechanic will have to be retrained to become an auto electrician. The state government is going to assist with new training programs for both existing and new auto mechanics.

The training will focus on electric technology that is incorporated into the new buses. This training will also apply to the growing number of electric vehicles in the country. Such training will include the following.

  • Working Safely with Electronic Components
  • High Voltage Systems
  • Emergency Responses and More

Understanding the basics of electric technology in vehicles will become standard training. In some parts of the country, the future is today. With electric buses and other vehicles powered by electricity being used by government offices, a new skill set will need to be taught.

Auto Electrician – Auto Mechanic

In some ways, this is not as great a leap going from auto mechanic to an auto electrician as it was from horses to internal combustion engines. But there is a learning curve that will need to be addressed for mechanics who want to continue in their profession. There are electric brakes involved, auto diagnostics to understand.

Today, there are auto mechanics who work full time as a heavy vehicle mechanic and are qualified auto electricians as well. Being dual trade offers significant advantages for the future. Plus, the existing internal combustion engines will still be in widespread use for many years to come.

The government is doing its part by rolling out a new series of courses designed to address electric vehicle maintenance. This also includes teaching other skills in critical areas such as cybersecurity, payroll, and accounting software, and more. The training is focused on adding new skills to those working in the profession and not starting from the ground up.

This jump start approach is designed to given existing mechanics a leg up in learning new skills. Meanwhile, the standard apprenticeship used in the auto mechanic industry is being modified to include maintenance on electric vehicles.

Sydney may be one of the first cities to convert their existing line of diesel-powered buses, but they will not be the last. And as new technology is developed, the electric vehicle will be improved in terms of its overall performance. The advantages of using dual batteries over internal combustion engines in terms of the environment is being recognized by the government and people in general. The result is a new focus on electrically-powered vehicles that provide greater distance and reliability.

The typical diesel mechanic along the Sunshine Coast, and all of Australia will soon become an auto electrician as well. Starting with public transportation, the electric vehicle is already expanding into the lives of everyday people. And while the internal combustion engine will continue to exist for a long time, just like the horse and buggy it will be replaced by the electrically powered vehicles.
